I know I may sound like a broken record, and like every other student who starts this class, but this quarter was the first time Ive ever created 3D objects (on purpose anyway). It is an experience I don’t think I’ll forget. Learning about all the different 3D applications took me back to when I first started this degree. There is so much out there and I didn’t know much about it.
Blender was where I started my journey. I watched YouTube videos and looked up shortcuts to make the shift easier. What I found was that it wasn’t that far off from any adobe or creative app that Ive used so far. The physical aspect of Blender fit right in to what I was already doing and the transition wasn’t as bad as I thought.
This realization provided an extra creative outlet I never thought was possible. It led me to look into other 3D applications such as, Nomad Sculpt. This app allows me to create on my iPad and use my stylus, which has made it so much easier to handle details.
This whole experience has provided me with the knowledge that Im not limited to just one thing creatively. Even though being in a VR world isn’t my thing I have a new found respect for designing. As stressful as being in a time constraint is, making these objects to be held (or supposed to) in a 3D environment is an amazing thing as an artist. My workflow will never be the same after this because it isn’t just beginning and end. Ive come to learn that all the tasks in between are just as necessary and rewarding.
