Ive learned so much through the quarter. 3D design wasn’t something I thought would interest me but being able to create like that and see it come to life is very cool.
The Key to Success was the second 3D object I made this quarter and one I was able to put my own creative touch into. At the start of the quarter I chose the Develop Empathy Key, for the emotional meaning and its relational component to my part of the wellness wheel.
I chose the Develop Empathy key. I chose this key because it can help improve your view of communicating. By understanding others perspectives you can communicate better. Empathy can help you better understand and connect with others. This can lead to higher emotional intelligence.
To create my key I used Blender, a 3D creation software. It was a rough start at first, trying to understand all shortcuts and movements of the camera. Thankfully, the key I sketched out had basic shapes and was easy to manipulate.
Creating this key was the best way to learn more about blender and how it functions. The original design of the Key is beautiful in itself and I wanted to create something a little different. I started with the base of the key with its original components, from there I I decided to change the design.
Changing the design was simple one. I wanted to create a key that can represent the understanding of others perspectives by having the pieces connect within each other. As a whole, you can be a better person.
Once done, saving it into a .DAE file was fairly simple. Seeing it in Second Life was kind of an amazing thing. To see something I created in 3D portrayed on a game was an experience I’ll remember.
This 3D key, replicated in Second Life, is more than just an object. It is a symbol of progress. This key can be a guide to unlock wellness doors that reveal new stages of The Heros Journey.
This 3D key can save as a consistent element throughout the immersive experience. A presence that reinforces the players connection to their journey and the wellness goals they are pursuing.
The key in essence becomes a personalized totem in the Heros progress towards self-discovery and well-being
