Level Up

College, lately, can feel like it seems a little out of reach sometimes. Personally, between being a mom and working full time the idea of hitting the books seem kind of crazy. But, and hear me out, it has so much potential:

Why College, Why Now?

I am 33, a mom of three, a full time worker, and I am thrilled to be back in school. It might sound odd, and honestly a little exhausting most times, but it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Here’s why:

Personal Growth is very important to me. Learning new things can challenge your brain and helps you grow as a person. It’s a chance to rediscover your passions and interests.
Career Boosts. You read that right a college degree can open doors to new opportunities and higher paying jobs. It’s the level up I needed in a video game, but in real life.
Networking has always been an important part of gaining traction in a career. College is a fantastic place to meet like-minded people, build relationships, and expand.

Alumni

Alumni can be a guide to lead the next set of students out of what may feel like a sense of disconnect from the ordinary world. They can help navigate the challenges of the ordinary world with the new graduates by first helping them embrace empathy and acknowledging the struggle of others. Lead by example and give back by using their new knowledge and resources to help others. Alumni can become powerful advocates. for higher education and help shape the next generation of leaders.

The Heros Journey

Remember those classic stories about heroes who overcome challenges to achieve greatness, such as the story in the Princess Bride? Well, you’re the hero of your own story as I am of mine. Going back to school is my quest for knowledge and self-improvement. I hope that who ever wants to follow in my foot steps embarks on their own adventure and consider going to college.
