Introduction to Graphic Design
Final
Week Eight
This week was tough, mostly because I over think. I really enjoyed learning about colors and different ways to change them within InDesign. What made it tough was finding colors that work together in any given design. I learned last week that not all colors work and I appreciated the advice. I just need more practice working with colors and studying the color wheel and its theory’s a little more.
This is what I have so far. I am working on finishing the sponsors for the quilt convention flyer right now. Other then that its always fun to design and I can’t wait to learn more.
Week Seven
This week I really focused on the assignment and making it my own, I realized its a lot harder then it looks. I was able to use what I learned so far from class in this brochure assignment but I found that making functional, visible designs can be challenging. Though it was challenging, I really enjoyed it. Designing isn’t a chore and I find this kind of practice rather enjoyable.
After downloading the “Organic Growers” brochure I seen so many mistakes. Im taking that as a good thing though. Mistakes mean I can do better and I hope to learn from them. I want to progress in these skills and can’t wait to learn more.
Week Six
This week was worth it, though it felt easy I learned a lot. Learning about the pre made paragraph styles was so helpful! One reason taking these kinds of classes has been so beneficial.
Using text to beautify a poster was an awesome touch to the end of the week. I think the hardest part is finding typography that works together. Learning about having bigger topography families to help with pairing typefaces really helped. This I will be sure to practice more.
Week Five
The lectures are so helpful, though the book and its directions pretty much give you a step by step how to, it isn’t the same. I appreciate them so much, thank you. Learning different ways to use tools in Indesign has been fun. I always enjoy learning creative ways to make a regular shape into something else.
This week I just took it slow and attempted to take in the information. I wanted to be able to apply what I learned into my independent project and also have fun with it without having to rush. I feel like, creatively, my project could have been a little cleaner but in the end I understood the concept and enjoyed the process.
Week Four
This week was so fun! I learned a lot. I did find the Muskie Guide to be the hardest (I think I only made it hard for myself), in the end with help from the lecture I was able to figure it out. I still think I could’ve lined up my text in the columns a little better but I kept getting stuck on it so decided, for now, it was a decent job. The calendar and collage were probably my favorite things to do and hope to do more like this again.
Week Three
This week was a bit difficult. Mostly due to the fact that I waited till the absolute last minute to do the final touches on my work but also because it’s like I forgot all of the nifty tricks InDesign has. After posting this I will make sure to follow up on that and get a refresher. Other than my own hardships these assignments were fun and I learned a lot. Thank you for the class lectures and recordings, they help so much!
Week Two
Week One
This week’s assignment was a great reintroduction to InDesign. I was able to remind myself of the tools and shortcuts. I did have some trouble with the Markup assignment, only because I didn’t activate the correct font types, easy fix. Can’t wait to see what this quarter has in store.
