Diving into digital storytelling, it feels like virtual spaces are important in shaping our narratives and how we can effectively share our creative journeys. Watching these videos was insightful, particularly in how it highlighted the meaningful role virtual worlds played in human connection and coping during isolation. It really demonstrated how platforms like Second Life and Animal Crossing became key spaces that offered purpose and avenues for creative expression. I wasn’t surprised to see how these virtual environments were a place for social intimacies and allowed people to maintain identity, despite social distancing.
There’s something powerful about digital platforms though. It goes past traditional boundaries, and often develops communities and discussions that might not have occurred. These videos provide valuable knowledge in understanding the potential of immersive digital spaces.
The Heros Journey aims to create immersive narratives. After watching his video it reinforces that virtual worlds create interactive experiences and are amazing storytelling platforms. This is a core aspect of digital storytelling and its capacity to build community. This relates to how shared digital experiences-which is the main selling point of our project- can connect people.
To best market this, would mean to focus on community and engagement. This day and age is all about creating videos and using platforms. Using videos that hint at the interactive nature of The Heros Journey would be effective. I think that “launching” our events to stakeholders and students is a great marketing strategy. Encouraging a “virtual launch” of our project every time.

The Heros Journey project was an incredibly valuable experience. The most challenging aspect was to effectively convey my part of the story and its immersive nature of our project. Overall, the process of creating has been a fantastic learning experience, truly solidifying my understanding of the power and potential of digital storytelling.
